If you look up “fare” in the dictionary, you will find that it is often used to eat or dine – a range of food used for consumption and enjoyment. Well that is exactly what you can expect this coming weekend when you partake in the Holiday Fare Wine Trail which consists of 20 miles and 7 wineries!
Your drive will meander through the hills of Hermann and along the river as you travel from Hermann to New Haven. Participants will sample festive food and wine pairings along the way.
At the historic and beautiful Hermannhof Winery, your taste buds will be treated to an exquisite Three-Mushroom Tartlet paired with Chambourcin. The Chambourcin is described as an off-dry ruby-red with a medium body and balanced acidity. You will enjoy flavors and aromas of cherries, spice, and dried fruits.
At the California Tasting Room, Dierberg Star Lane will please your pallet with Wine Country Boeuf en Daube, a delicious Provencal beef stew, paired with 2007 Star Lane Estate. The Estate blossoms with a nose deeply reminiscent of Santa Rosa Plum, blackberry, with a chalky, savory richness of joined fruit and Moroccan spice. This red wine will age quite nicely.
The Holiday Fare Wine Trail can be enjoyed both Saturday and Sunday, November 17-18, 2012. Hours are 10:00am – 5:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am – 5:00pm on Sunday. Tickets are $30 per person and should be purchased in advance by calling 800-932-8687, or you can get your tickets online. All participants receive a souvenir wine glass and are able to enter a drawing for a one-night stay at a Hermann B&B, plus a $30 gift certificate from each of the wineries.
What an excellent way to kick-off the Holiday Season with a relaxing stay at our Hermann MO Bed and Breakfast & Winery, while enjoying the Hermann wine trail where all roads will lead you back to the Hermannhof Winery and Dierberg Star Lane Tasting Room, where your taste buds are sure to be delighted with the pairing of exceptional cuisine and fine wine. Happy Holidays to you!
