Some offer guided tours and others photographs, literature, artifacts and more which reflect the rich German heritage of this little river town.
Literally just steps away from room at the Inn is the White House Hotel built in 1868 which offers guided lantern tours featuring actors in period costume. This step back in time will provide you with memories that are sure to bring you back time and time again.
Not far from the White House Hotel you will also find the Gasconade County Courthouse which was dedicated in 1898. This majestic building is easy to spot as it sits high on the bluff overlooking the Missouri River. Murals by local artist depict the history of this German town.
Still looking to learn more about our little town? Make sure you visit the Historical Society on Schiller Street and just across the road is the Historic Hermann Museum at the Old German School which was built in 1871. Here you can find arts and crafts preserved including photographs, artifacts and memorabilia. The old school has seven rooms which each reflect an important part of Hermann history including a gift shop. When approaching this Historic Hermann Museum you will easily notice the large clock tower which has operated since 1890.
